What technology or business process does Scott see affecting the tax
and accounting profession in the next five years?
“As more companies with SOX 404 requirements implement online approvals
to demonstrate review or authorization of transactions and reports, financial
auditors will need to rely more on information systems auditors to test the
system related controls to comply with regulatory guidelines. Auditing ‘around
the black box’ will be less prevalent, and auditing ‘through the
box’ will become even a greater focus. System related controls will become
more firmly entrenched in the assertions around financial statement accounts.”
